Thrift Shop closed April 23

Which door?

We are located at 404 Washington Street in Brighton Center. There are three doors to the church building; which one should you use?

As you face the building, you will see a parking lot on the right side of the building. The Thrift Shop uses the door off this parking lot. There are three steps at this entrance. If this is a problem for you, please call 617-254-4046 before you come and we will be sure that the door with the ramp is unlocked.

No, we won't come help you pack, but we can provide a new home for your gently-used items.

We would be happy to receive your clean, useable, and nearly-new or vintage clothing and housewares. All children's items should also meet current safety standards. Time and space do not allow us to accept large or broken items. Small furniture items such as accent tables are fine; dining room tables or chairs are not. We just don't have the space! We also do NOT accept computers, computer parts, or any electronic items larger than a bread box. And no matter how small your electronic item, if it isn't working, please don't donate it: we're not a fix-it shop.

To donate items, please bring them to the shop when we're open—Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 to 2. Receipts for tax purposes are available; just ask.

Let's dish! Special Labor Day sale

We have lots and lots of dishes in the Thrift Shop right now--all sorts of dishes, all at low, low prices. So if you're setting up a new apartment, shop us first!

This Saturday, September 1, we'll have everything on sale. This weekend marks the resumption of regular hours: every Wednesday and Saturday, 10 to 2.

August hours

The Thrift Shop will be open on Saturday, August 11 and on Saturday, August 18. Hours are 10-2. We will be closed the rest of the month.

Regular hours resume September 1, just in time for moving in to your new apartment.

Vacation day

Riverfest, part of the Brighton-Allston 200 celebrations, is being held that day from 10 to 6 at Herter Field, Soldiers Field Road, Brighton. The church will have a table at Riverfest; drop by to pick up a 20% off coupon good on your first Thrift Shop purchase!

Mother Nature did not cooperate Saturday with our plans for a big book and rummage sale. We're sorry about that, and to help make up for any inconvenience, we'll be continuing the $2 per bag sale, and marking books and shop items WAY down. We need to make way for spring merchandise.

The church is having a rummage and book sale on Saturday, March 17 from 10 to 2 in the church social hall next to the Thrift Shop. At the same time, the Thrift Shop will be having a 50% off everything sale. So you're bound to find some great bargains!

January bargains

During the month of January, all regularly-priced sweaters are reduced to $2, and all regularly-priced men's clothing is just half-price. Don't you just love a bargain?

Fall Fair on Saturday, Nov. 4

The church is having a Fall Fair on Saturday from 10 to 2. This means that lots of people have brought new items in to sell at the fair. Anything not sold Saturday will be on tables at half-price for the next few weeks, after which time it will become Thrift Shop inventory. So come on Saturday for the best selection and all the additional Fair fun: homemade baked goods, holiday items, jewelry, music, books, photos of the pastor's trip to Ghana, cider, back & shoulder massages.

Lunch will be served, starting at 11:30. On the menu is your choice of pulled pork, vegetarian chili, or hot dogs, with coleslaw, baked beans, bread, and dessert.

If you can't make it Saturday, be sure to visit in the next couple weeks while inventory is at its annual best.

Dollar Day coming up

Saturday, October 7 will be another Dollar Day with great values on clothing. Time to buy some new-to-you fall clothes.

Unexpected closing

With the temperatures expected to hit 100 tomorrow, we've decided to close the thrift shop for the day. It's just too hot! We'll be open Saturday, though. See you then.

The Thrift Shop will be closed for vacation on Wednesday, August 23 and 30. We will be open all August Saturdays, however. So plan ahead for your back-to-school shopping. Better yet, buy it now during the Dollar Days Sale!
